KIRSTEN LEPORE

 

Kirsten Lepore is an LA-based director and animator, and alumna of the California Institute of the Arts. Her films have taken top prizes at SXSW, Slamdance, the Vimeo Awards, and more. She has given talks everywhere from Pixar to Portugal and has been named one of “10 Animators to Watch” by Variety. But what really makes Kirsten stand out as a creator is her quirky and unique approach to storytelling—an approach that can only be truly appreciated by watching some of her work.

JANICZA BRAVO

 

Having spent half of her life in Brooklyn and the other half in Panama, the now LA-based Janicza Bravo bears a perspective that’s one of a kind. At New York University, she studied directing, theater, costume and set design, which may explain her ability to construct entirely new characters and genres in her many short films. Named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Cinema,” Janicza tells stories from unexplored perspectives in fresh and fearless ways.

 

Watch her new short film, “Val From Purchasing” and hear how Janicza hopes the story will subvert viewers’ expectations.

LACEY DUKE

 

Lacey Duke is an award-winning director from Toronto, Canada, living and working in Atlanta, Georgia. At an early age, Lacey discovered her passion for creating compelling visuals and captivating stories. She’s written and directed shorts that have been screened at festivals around the world and produced music videos for artists like Janelle Monáe. Her unique aesthetic, knack for fostering organic performances and affinity for counter-culture has allowed her to capture narrative and beauty with an edgy and fresh sensibility.

 

In her new short film “XO,” Lacey imagines a future that’s beautiful for everyone. In particular, the elderly and disabled who are often left behind. Watch the uplifting short film and hear what Lacey hopes viewers will take away from it.

MEGAN PARK

 

Known primarily for her work as an actress, Megan Park made her directorial debut at the 2016 Austin Film Festival with her short film “Lucy In My Eyes,” earning her the coveted Grand Jury Prize. Since then, she’s spent most of her time behind the camera, writing and directing shorts, music videos, and an upcoming feature film, to tell the kinds of stories she’d like to see in the world.

 

Stories like “Goodnight.” In the new short film, Megan depicts a future in which we never have to say goodbye. Watch the film and hear how Megan hopes the story will enrich viewers’ lives.
